Helping codify 12 state laws to advance charging infrastructure across California, Oregon, Colorado, New Mexico, Nevada, Illinois and Virginia, nearly all of which received bipartisan support. Each of these laws contained a mix of policy solutions that are helping to lower the cost of building and operating charging infrastructure, and speeding up the timelines for deploying that infrastructure.

Securing over $7B in utility programs to accelerate EV adoption, $17B in distribution grid upgrades, and key precedent-setting decisions and settlements that drive affordable rate design and proactive planning frameworks from utilities, all through state regulatory proceeding interventions and technical assistance.

Working behind the scenes with key industry partners to secure public investments such as the successful extension of the IRA’s 30C tax credit — providing billions of dollars in federal support for the installation of charging infrastructure — and the California Transportation Commission’s approval of $94 million to build more than 500 new truck charging ports along California’s busiest trade corridors.

Developing a successful litigation strategy used by 21 states and Energize members to challenge the federal government’s unlawful freeze of the $5 billion NEVI program, resulting in a court order that effectively safeguards NEVI nationwide from unlawful anti-EV interference. Energize members and partners are actively litigating to reinstate the $2.5 billion Charging and Fueling Infrastructure Program and stand ready to challenge further unlawful attacks.

Building toward a national consensus by partnering with industry groups, fuel marketers, and truck stop operators to submit letters to Congress in support of the IRA’s charging infrastructure tax credit (which helped win a one-year extension of the credit, resulting in tens of billions of dollars in support for charging deployment), as well as powering state-level bills with diverse grassroots support.
